Zano Monthly Project Update #9 - June 2025

Welcome zAnons to the 9th Zano Project Update!
June has been an action-packed month for the Zano ecosystem, full of growth, outreach, and technical progress. We made waves at Porcfest 2025 in New Hampshire, and the zAnon community continues to push forward on all fronts. Let’s dive in and take a closer look at everything that’s unfolded this past month!
Community Member of the Month
This month, we’re thrilled to spotlight Val Venis (@valvenisent on X) a passionate and thoughtful member of the Zano community for nearly a year. Val’s curiosity and eagerness to learn have been clear from the start, as he has consistently explored Zano’s tech and engaged in deep conversations about its potential. He’s not afraid to get hands-on either; recently, he launched a Confidential Asset paying tribute to his WWE legacy, make sure to check that out on his socials!
Beyond that, Val is a vocal advocate for privacy as a fundamental human right, echoing our belief that technology should empower individuals, not surveil them. We're lucky to have him onboard, and we truly appreciate his energy and his principled voice in the community.

Zano Fact #1: Did you know you can buy gift cards using $ZANO on ZanoX.io and even participate in a Zano lottery?
Zano x Porcfest 2025

The Zano marketing team went to Porcfest in New Hampshire, US. It's been an incredibly productive week, during which we successfully onboarded numerous new users and merchants, delivered presentations and workshops, and formed new, important relationships within the libertarian community.
Here’s a breakdown of all the highlights:
- We onboarded 10-15 merchants in Agora Valley that now accept $ZANO and $FUSD for their products (including burgers, pizza, cigars, and ice cream, among others).
- We successfully hosted multiple workshops, where we onboarded dozens of people who downloaded the mobile wallet and received their first $ZANO.
- Aaron Day (@AaronRDay) spoke on the main stage about tokenization and why privacy coins matter, particularly in light of CBDCs on the horizon.
- We joined Sal the Agorist (@SallyMayweather) on his podcast to talk about Zano and @obscura_nft.
- We spoke with several influencers who have sizable followings and showed genuine interest in learning more about Zano and its potential.
- We gave away lots of Zano merchandise and copies of @HijackingBTC.
- We loved talking with all the Zano community members, including Marc De Mesel (@MarcDeMesel) & Sal, and enjoyed the company of Douglas Tuman (@DouglasTuman) in the @monerotopia tent.
- Aaron held a #freeroger panel with various guest speakers.
- Had a fantastic time with the folks from Pirate Chain, Edge Wallet, and the Anarchapulco team.
All in all, PorcFest has been a success, and we’re already looking forward to attending next year!

Technical Upgrades

June focused on hardening the codebase, improving consistency across components, and pushing forward with new releases and security reviews. Here's the full update:
Core & Protocol Improvements
Enhanced Exception Handling:
Enabled EHa (external hardware-assisted) exception mode to catch both structured and standard C++ exceptions, improving error detection and crash diagnostics.
Transaction Pool Fix:
Fixed handling of transactions violating the HF4 coinage rule (too small max_related_block_height).
Such transactions will now remain in the pool until the blockchain height is sufficient rather than being incorrectly rejected.
Performance & Logging
- Minor performance tweak in fill_block_template.
- Added more detailed logs related to blacklisted pool transactions.
P2P fixes
- Fixed a bug in white/grey peerlist trimming logic.
- Added a console availability check (#510) to prevent crashes in certain environments.
Wallet Improvements & RPC Updates
Transaction Comments:
tx_comment in wallet RPC is now placed into the transaction’s extra field for consistency with wallet_manager.
Added soft rules to ensure:
- tx_comment is only allowed in extra
- Only if the destination addresses are the same
Integrated Address Check:
Added a validation that ensures the integrated address is the first destination, if present.
Key Image Restoration:
Implemented a first approach for restoring key images in watch-only wallets, if the key image file was accidentally deleted.
Hardfork Awareness Check:
Wallet now checks that it shares the same hardfork-awareness version with the daemon it's connected to.
RPC Enhancements
- get_wallet_restore_info in wallets_manager was made non-synchronized to avoid unnecessary locking.
- Added sanitize_utf8 to invoke() in plain_wallet for input cleaning.
Testing & Stability
Continued improvements to core tests and unit tests, focused on expanding coverage and increasing reliability across the system.
App Releases
Updated mobile and desktop wallets released, including:
- UI and UX improvements
- Better integration with Zano ecosystem apps
- Codebase refactor for maintainability
- New release available at (https://zano.org/downloads)
Security & Open Source
The Zano Trade app successfully went through an invite-only bug bounty program.
All reported issues are expected to be resolved next week. Once finalized, the app will be pushed to a public repository.

Zano Around the World
Zano Africa
June was a great month for Zano Africa. We onboarded new Nigerian merchants to list their products on ZanoBay,held a powerful AMA session with the BlockchainFul community, and our bi-weekly quizzes hit a record of 60+ players, the highest so far. The mission continues: privacy, adoption, and community.
Zano France
In June, ZanoFrench laced up its sneakers and hit the ground. We had many discussions with merchants and artisans interested in ZANO. Starting this summer, ZANO will be accepted by a sneaker customization artist, a rigs and GPU seller, a refurbished computer repair shop, and a wine merchant offering fine French wine, naturally.
Zano Latam/Spain
This month was incredible for expanding our public relations and building trust within the Spanish-speaking community. We collaborated with a leading privacy influencer, who is a powerful voice for privacy and is sparking conversations about free speech through highly viral videos and podcasts. Additionally, we significantly grew our follower base on X, and we have more exciting plans for this month.
Zano Brazil
In June, Zano Brasil was present at TokenNation in São Paulo, where we distributed flyers and engaged with developers interested in building dApps on the Zano blockchain. We also launched a guide on how to protect your crypto starting from fiat and moved forward with plans to list fUSD and $ZANO on Brazilian exchanges.

Conclusion
June has been nothing short of transformative for Zano—from on-the-ground adoption at Porcfest to new integrations, listings, and wallet improvements, the momentum is undeniable. As always, none of this would be possible without the dedication and energy of our incredible community.
Looking ahead, things are about to get even more exciting: Confidential Layer has officially announced that they will be launching their bridge in July, a major milestone with huge implications for Zano's cross-chain future. In the next clip, Aaron Day does a quick breakdown of what this means for our ecosystem:
Thanks for being on this journey with us, zAnons. See you next month!
