Dev update: April 2024

Dev update: April 2024

As we move deeper into the year, the Zano team has remained committed to enhancing and expanding our blockchain's capabilities. April has been a particularly productive month, marked by significant advancements in our documentation, API development, and mobile applications. Here’s a comprehensive look at the developments we've achieved this month.

Documentation and API Development

  • Auto-Documentation System for Zano API: We've implemented an auto-documentation system, which automatically generates up-to-date documentation for our APIs. This significant enhancement ensures that our documentation remains consistent with the latest changes without manual updates.
  • Comprehensive Wallet RPC API Documentation: All wallet RPC APIs have now been meticulously documented using the new auto-doc system. This integration into our devops processes enhances our development efficiency and API usability.
  • Daemon RPC API Documentation: Similarly, the entire daemon RPC API has been documented, providing clear, accessible information that will aid developers in creating and integrating applications with Zano.

Wallet Enhancements

  • Decoy Selection Algorithm Fixes: We've addressed a few critical issues in the wallet's decoy selection algorithm, enhancing the privacy and reliability of transactions.
  • Asset Deployment and Management: Implementation of new wallet RPC APIs for asset deployment and for fetching the list of all registered assets in the daemon has been completed, simplifying asset management on the Zano network.
  • Anonymity Enhancements: We've made significant improvements to the transaction output derivation hint scheme, increasing the anonymity of transactions to strengthen privacy for our users.
  • Conversion of Old Outputs: We've implemented several features to facilitate the conversion of old pre-Zarcanum "bare" outputs, which could potentially decrease anonymity. These include a new simplewallet command, additional wallet RPCs, and a user-friendly button in the GUI.

Mobile Development and Integrations

  • Cake Wallet Integration: Our collaboration with Cake Wallet has reached fruition. This integration marks a significant step in expanding the accessibility and functionality of Zano on mobile devices.
  • Redesigned Mobile Wallet App: We are excited to announce that a completely redesigned mobile wallet app, which includes support for confidential assets, is set to be released. This update will provide a more seamless and secure user experience, allowing for enhanced privacy and utility on the go.

Ongoing Projects

  • Bridge Integration with Confidential Layer: Our team is heavily involved in building a bridge integration with Confidential Layer. This ongoing development is crucial for enhancing cross-chain interactions while maintaining the privacy standards Zano is known for. We are eagerly anticipating this feature going live and will continue to keep the community updated on our progress.

As April comes to a close, we reflect on the strides we've made and the groundwork laid for future innovations. Each development, from API enhancements to mobile app redesigns, is aimed at providing our users with a more secure, private, and user-friendly experience. We appreciate the community's continued support and are excited to move forward with new features and improvements in the coming months. Stay tuned for more updates as we continue to push the boundaries of what's possible with Zano.
